In November ten students from EMS, led by Eric Shoembs and Kevin Grace, took part in the First Lego League Robotics competition. In the 2013 NATURE’S FURY℠ Challenge, over 200,000 children ages 9 to 16* from over 70 countries explored the awe-inspiring storms, quakes, waves and more that we call natural disasters. The mission of teams was to research natural disasters, choose one and find ways that people can prepare, stay safe, and rebuild after natural disasters. In addition to that they had to build an autonomous robot that would need to take part in head to head robot competition. All of that while staying true to the core values of the First Lego League. How did they do? Team member Cortina explains about our team and how the VeMonsterRoboticists did at the state-wide competition held at Norwich University.
